Project management with Atlassian
One essential aspect of RapidMiner projects is the fact that they allow users with various skills (analysts, coders, data scientists, etc.) to collaborate in an environment where they can share and use the tools familiar to each of them.
Now, we are introducing a new Planning tab to improve collaboration and information sharing, and to allow project managers to follow up and track progress.
The Planning tab implements an integration with Atlassian Jira and Confluence, de facto standards in project management.
Tasks
During the creation of a new RapidMiner project, the user can create a new Jira Epic on whichever Jira project is chosen.
The Planning tab allows users to create new Jira tickets associated to that epic, and, most importantly, it allows project managers review the state and follow up completed and remaining tasks.
Direct links to each individual task are provided to drill down to the details and redirect you to Jira.
Additionally, the project list gives an immediate view of which projects are in progress, their global status, and how far along they are.
Documentation
The Planning tab also allows to link a Confluence page. When doing so, a new page is created in the selected Atlassian project. The page is created using a template that includes best practices for Machine Learning and Data Science projects, although it can of course be adapted to the project's particularities.
